Our Story
The Foundation
It began with a simple wish. A little girl wanted new shoes to match the yellow dress her mother had sewn. As the daughter of immigrants, those shoes were out of reach and the worn brown pair she had became a lasting symbol. The memory of longing for those shoes and what they represented still drives our founder today, fueling a deep commitment to perseverance, gratitude, and growth.
As a first-generation Chinese American, our founder learned to turn limited resources into opportunity through resilience and vision. These lessons echo the challenges many startups face.
After years of proven success supporting clients, 2080HR was created with a clear purpose. We partner with entrepreneurs, simplify HR and Payroll, and help companies achieve their goals while always prioritizing their people.

Our Founder
Maureen Cheong
Maureen is an accomplished and results-oriented Human Resources executive with over 20 years of experience, specializing in partnering with high-growth companies at various stages of their lifecycle. She thrives on working with startups and is committed to fostering their growth with a people-centric approach.
With a proven track record of building and scaling high-performing teams for rapidly growing companies, Maureen's career began in Boston, Massachusetts. There, she collaborated with venture-backed startups to build their C-suite and engineering teams. Later, she transitioned to Saks Fifth Avenue's HR team before relocating to Los Angeles, California, where she held executive HR roles at companies such as Oversee.net, BeachMint, The Lucky Group, TWO NIL, Full Stack Finance, and Escalon.
At Full Stack Finance, Maureen spearheaded the establishment and expansion of its HR Practice, prioritizing the scalable development of robust HR infrastructures for its client roster of startups and high-growth companies. Following Full Stack Finance's acquisition by Escalon in February 2022, Maureen assumed the role of Head of PeopleOps, overseeing a global team providing HR, Payroll, Benefits, and Recruiting services to a diverse client base across different industries.
Driven by her deep passion for the startup space, Maureen founded 2080HR with a clear mission to partner with entrepreneurs and help them achieve their goals by simplifying HR and Payroll while always prioritizing their people.
In her free time, she cherishes time with her husband, twins, three dogs, and extended family and friends. She also enjoys traveling, trying new foods, and exploring new interests.
She holds a BS from Babson College.
